Coulda spent a week there. It was well worth the time trouble to go(sympathies to those caught in the Iron Man traffic). Rob Mathieson and Jim Kilpatric were not only great teachers but also genuinely nice people to be around. They shared far more than I could retain and I hope we can have them back sometime.

yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Robert Mathieson was a superb teacher and I thought it was very interesting to learn about the different embellishments and the time signatures. I hope he does another workshop. It really was a great opportunity that does not come very often. Thank you very much to the SUSPBA for putting together a great weekend! Very Happy

And Thank You to all of you that showed up to represent our band and to represent the piping scene in Florida. It was great to be able to have our band play in front of Rob (even if was only pipers) and get feedback that will surely help our scoresheets down the road.

It was nice to hear Rob and Jim say how pleasently surprised they were by the level of playing that they heard over the weekend and they were surprised that that there weren't some grade 3 bands here or more grade 2 bands.

I was glad to go, andat least Sandy got Rob Kennedy to do a walk-on and hae something for the midsections. In the opening intro meeting, the instructors were saying as how there's where the win/loss factor is in Scotland these days. I was hoping that Ty Fry would be coming over with the Shotts guys- but I guess that was too much to hope for. I also hope that Marge was convinced that we did have enough of a band to qualify for travel money- she was trying to gyp us out of it after lunch, by saying folks like Philips (and certain other questionable members) weren't members on the Roster, Bob Everman hadn't signed in, etc. Also, as of 2:00 they weren't guaranteeing to even hear the band ensembles play either Saturday or Sunday. So, since the midsection workshop had been cancelled for the afternoon, I, and I think some others, left. It might have been better in the morning just to have sat in with the sides, and hear some of the war-stories- I've heard Rob's. Would have been happy to stay and to come back on Sunday- if there had been something profitable to do. (And the grapes were sour, too.) But the lunch was ok. And, of course, it's always nice to get a warm greeting from Sandy and Marge.
NEVERTHELESS, I will give Sandy credit for at least trying to do something positive for the SUSPBA with our dues. Is it really true that TBP&D was the only band that qualified for travel $? Good on Steve for writing a thank you note to the SUSPBA for their website- the first thing about TBP&D I've seen in a while. They can't say that TBP&D doesn't participate and appreciate.
