The weakness of the Big 10...We all saw what happened to the Big 10 "Chumps" oops , I mean champs against a real conference champ (SEC) in last years BCS game (University of Florida 41 - O(verrated)SU 14...But the media darling this year for the Big 10 was the Michigan Lhaso Apsos...I mean the Michigan Wolverines - They just lost to Appachalchian State University... ....Wow. When is BIASPN going to realize the Big 10 is an absolute joke full of palookas? Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, "THE" O(verrated)SU and the rest of the wimps that "play football" in this "conference" are nothing....

They were huge shot glasses. The bottle of whiskey that went with it was memorable as well. I don't remember the Y.M.C.A. but I do remember the huge ramp I had to walk up to get out of that room. It was like climbing everest, lol. Stupid bathroom, I mean really, who puts things on the wall that could be ripped down like that?!

Oh I'm sure Andy, Fraser, Gregor and Steve remember the Y..M..C..A.. dance. And who said white men can't jump???, you were clearing at least 18 inches of pure air with every Y in the song, kilted and all. It was one priceless moments but alas I did not have a camera for sentimental purposes, I bet it was captured on the O'Brien's video though!!

...Hmmm. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this was directed at me, yes? Maybe people should take a look at the time posts were made and submitted before making comments about having "time to play" and no time for the band. What band activity was going on at 8:00 p.m last Saturday night that I should have been involved in? As far as your "booooooooo-hoooooo" subject line is concerned (another swipe at me, I'm sure ) looks like that's what the college football world will be hearing from fsu fans this year (AGAIN ) Funny how I remember a coversation just 3 short weeks ago with two guys outside of St. Lawrence Higgins Hall, and both of them told me how great FS(hortbus)U was going to be this year. New coaching staff, fantastic defense, great offensive line - sad part is one of these guys is a Gator ...But alas, we all saw exactly what we can expect from Half-Ass U this year on Labor Day, didn't we? An offensive line with more holes in it than a block of swiss cheeze, a defense that couldn't stop the offensive schemes of some top tier high school teams in the state, and an offense that was almost as erratic as an epileptic at a fireworks show. I smell 6-7 this year for F$U...But hey Doug, always remember this:
UNCONQUERED....

I don't know about any other schools with reptiles as mascots, but the Land 'O Lakes high school Gators just beat the Wesely Chapel Wildcats- Yah.... Maura, Lorna, and JP.
They've been in their league playoffs for the last ten years - a better record than some I could name.
BTW, There are two more Weatherfords on the team - John and Steve, I think. I'm sure that Drew up at FSU (F... S... U...make up your own acronym) can't wait for a little extra help. It's another bro. that's our state rep. A Pasco county clan almost as prolific as the Serneels (who were probably there before DeSoto, or at least before paved roads - LOL).

That's a good way to treat your friends. Thanks. As far as playing small schools, looks to me like the "UNCONQUERED" had quite the task yesterday with UAB - certainly not a big school either. We beat our inferior opponent by 30 points while the "UNCONQUERED" barely squeeked by theirs. Oddly enough, this same Troy team that you're mocking The University of Florida Gator National Champions for playing, took the "UNCONQUERED" to the wire last year and lost by 7. As a matter of fact, I think Troy lead most of the game . The "UNCONQUERED" barely pulled out a 24-17 win against Troy last year - so by mocking us for playing them, you're only making your lousy football program look worse ..

Emory University's "Fightin' Lab Rats" maintain their unbeaten record yet another week!
As for the Reptiles to the North, Maura tells me that the UF campus police are fierce enough that it takes only five of them to take down a Gator, at least with a taser. Maybe they trained with the Largo PD?

Gee Dave, if you were in a fight would you want to be by yourself or would you want your friends there with you? Why should a police officer fight one on one when five on one pretty much gurantees they won't be hurt or killed? If you weren't there, you don't know what happened. Even when you are there you don't always know what happens. I am not saying the cops are always right, we all know they are wrong alot, but don't judge unless you were there. Miss our debates, lol

No doubt about it they are a good team, I look for them to overtake either UM or FSU as one of the major players in NCAA Football - at least here in Florida. On the same hand, I'd be cautious about crownig them world beaters, and national champs just yet. I ran into USF Bullfan Sunday morning, with a vicious hangover and no voice from the Tennessee game. As I bought my newspaper and coffee from Publix wearing - of course Gator stuff - I was accosted by Bullfan who felt an absolute, almost perverse compulsion, if you will, to brag and gloat about how they were able to do something UF (The Defending National Champions btw) wasn't by beating Auburn in Jordan Haire at night For those of you that follow SEC football know that isn't an easy place to play, much less win. However, Bullfan was being rather cocky about it and acting as if USF had played UF and won It was almost comical, yet pitiful in a way; here was a grown man trying to impress me and convince me that the Bulls are a good team. I conceded that fact, and agreed bright things are ahead for the Bulls... until he went gaga. Yes, it was soon after his diatribe about USF's impending greatness that Bullfan proceeded to tell me that Matt(?) Grothe was better than Tim Tebow The gauntlet was thrown down at this point and I felt it was a moral imperative to get this man a heavy dose of reality - were talking an Elvis' type perscription dose - and launched at him a flurry of collegiate football smack, fueled by the unpleasant remnants of prior day/nights revelry, and sheer shock. This verbal MOAB of intrastate college smack has been rivaled only by the boneheads that spend all day rehearsing their calls to the Jim Rome show. I first let him know that as good as USF is, there are probably 7 teams in the SEC that would absolutely brutalize them; Florida, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky - who by the way beat the vaunted Louisville Cardinals last week. I told him I'd love to play Elon, North Carolina, Syracuse, Cincinatti, UCF - oops we did last year and hammered them 42-0, the Bulls beat UCF by either 7 or 3 points last year, I think. I then proceeded to address the absurdity of his comparison of Grothe to Tebow. The stats don't lie: Neither do his 3 championship rings...
Grothe 2007:
41 of 66 for 422 yds. total. 62% completion rate. Yards per attempt 6.39 Longest 27 yds. 3 TD's. 0 INT's. 5 Sacks.
Tebow 2007:
45 of 61 for 835 yds. total. 74% completion rate. Yards per attempt 13.69. Longest 59 yards (against Tennessee.) 8 TD's 1 INT. 2 sacks.
Most of us are fairly confident that these numbers are sure to go higher I didn't want to run Bullfan under the bus or crush his hopes, but y'know it's a pretty damn ballsy move to strut around wearing a "Grothe>Tebow" shirt when your q.b's numbers look like his Put it this way, even in the limited capacity Tebow was utilized in last year, Tebows stats dwarfed Grothes against far superior defenses - with the obvious exception of O(verrated)SU which was by far our easiest, and softest defense..Hell, Vanderbilt could have beaten those wimps
In closing Bullfan, you are good, and show a lot of promise and are going to upset some teams - but you ain't SEC good, and you surely aren't Florida Gator good

Yo, Bro, C the P, Chill ma' Man. Peace and Love...
At least four different POV video's are up on YouTube. Check 'em out.
Next best thing to being there. You even get to see the camera-folks on the other cameras.
Random lawyer mental regurgitation to follow.......
I know we all, not just LEO's, don't seem to appreciate that just about every public gathering is going to be filmed. But, especially a campus lecture by an ex-presidential candidate? It's not like there weren't lots of cameras in evidence even before the kid started being importunate. And, really, don't they have to expect this sort of thing? Free speech, etc. Where's the ordinary usher or MC, to start with, to cajole folks away from the mike when time's up. Who actually asked the uniformed LEO's to intervene in what was essentially a heckler situation? Not Kerry.
You'd think there'd be SOP training for this sort of thing.
But, what training says it's OK to lay hands (battery) on the kid in the first place? Or, unholster a gun and point it (assault)? Getting his mike cut off was enough- the guy seemed to be turning away by himself. But when the brouhaha started, I thought the big black officer was doing a pretty good job of hustling him out in a bums rush. Ordinary bouncer technique - looked like he had an arm hooked in a force hold. But then, everybody else needed to get in the act. Bad idea in this case. Poor job of cuffing. IMHO, the yelling of "back up" to the crowd was the wrong phrase - it could be interpreted by the TV generation to indicate that she wanted more cops to come in - possibly to subdue the crowd. She might have been better trained to say "back away", or "back off" instead. The amazing thing was the docility of the crowd. Obviously the kid had no buddies looking for trouble along with him (so far, I understand he even recruited his camera-person on the spot).
And, when the guy says Don't tase me, Bro. Don't Tase me. It's not like the mild bad language (few f-words, bleeped out in some TV broadcats), was aimed at an LEO in particular, or that he was being defiant, or used the n-, c-, or p- words. He seemed surprised, asking what he'd been "arrested" for (at least the first couple of times), wanting to stay for the answer, etc. (Kerry didn't exactly cover himself with glory, either, but I'll let him spin it as well as he can) Lucky for the LEO's that the kid seems to have been ok. (I'll bet he's had a lot of bogus pain and suffering, anyway) What if he yelled, "don't tase me, I'm epileptic", That would've given 'em something to think about. I'll grant we don't really know much about the booking and jail, yet, so we'll just stick with the video-ed period of the incident.
It has been pointed out that this was a very low tolerance situation, on both sides; but really, to apparently "arrest" someone for being obnoxious at a political event, going over his time limit, or on the obvious pretext of "inciting a riot" ? Asking for help isn't inciting. Being a pain isn't illegal, yet. Please, this is a throw-down of the first order. And if there is no proper arrest, then there can not logically be "resisting arrest". All sham and pretext. All that is left is LEO inadequate preparation and over-reaction. Did you catch the grin on the LEOs' face when the tase went in? Not good PR. Not good to indicate fear on his part. It's not like the kid was 6 foot 4, 300 lbs, buff, hopped up on drugs (ok, sometimes hard to tell adrenalin from something else). No dark glasses. Dressed in T-shirt and jeans, so difficult to conceal anything better than a shiv. Was not an Arab-y or third-world looking person. Not even a 'tough guy look, or bald, bearded, tattooed. Just another wussy white boy. Armed with a book - the female LEO riffled it -not a bomb. There was no riot, no unruly mob.
The extent of possible analysis from the numerous videos is actually quite large compared with the usual scenario for recreation. The old, "you weren't there, so you don't know" doesn't work as well in this context. Neither does "you don't know what the LEO saw/heard/thought, and he had to make a snap decision to save lives". Are inadequate training, negligent hiring, supervision, or discipline justifications? And, I'd much rather look at the videos than trust to eye-witness accounts. Including those of the LEO's. Sure, not every angle was covered, every sound wasn't perfect, and there was a beginning and end, but this episode was about as well documented as can be asked for.
I may not be a judge, but I'd like to be on the jury - either of the kid (if the SAO dares prosecute... Remember Duke), or the civil trial where the kid sues and owns the school. What's the Bill of Rights worth? P&S is worth a dime, though. Thanks, campus LEO's, for spending my tax money like that. Well, enough blather. Peace, Chris. Miss you, too.
P.S. I understand Cafepress already has a "Don't Tase me, Bro." T-shirt available. I wonder if they have that in Blue & Orange? I'd sure like to have trademarked that phrase. Hey, maybe I'll wear one to the next SUSPBA AGM?

Gino, I say take Bullfan's money and let him go 'round in blissful ignorance. No need to set UF up with USF for a brawl like UM vs FL International. USF wants a heavy Gator-Bulldog level rivalry with who ? UCF Kinghts? Fl Atlantic Owls? BTW- did you read where there's a Seminole kid who doesn't like to play for the Owls because owls are a bad totem- symbol of impending death (like a banshee?) in his tribe? Well, heck, I thought that mascots were supposed to put fear into folks. Emory's skeleton "Dooley" sure does. LOL.
And...How 'bout that FSU's Drew Weatherford - Now there's a good 'ole Land 'O Lakes boy as QB. His brother is doing right by old LOL HS, too.

World beaters or National Champs no but they are vastly improved over just three years ago and that year they should have gone to a bowl. I think by breaking the top 25 they are going to improve recruitment vastly and maybe not take players away from FSU, U of M or U of F. Some of the players that don't make those national championship squads will look at USF as a viable alternative.

USF has a ways to go but don't be surprised if they get there. The school is important for recruiting players but so is the coach and after Urban Meyer I'd say that Jim Leavitt is the next best choice in Florida to play for. Looking at what he's done with building this program from scratch is amazing and I hope he sticks around there for a long time.
USF's score against Auburn could have been a lot higher if their kicker knew which direction the field goal was but although Matt Grothe played a decent game he had a lot of trouble getting the ball in the end zone. He still has to prove himself but I'm not going to bet against him!

What's this? USF is playing VW? Those Volkswagon folks are tough. They're small, but they have a lot of experience. Their first coach was A. Hitler, whose memorable motto was "Winning isn't the only thing, it's the Reich thing".
Farfegnuggen - bah, humbug.
I think that with USF using RJ stadium, it needs a new nickname, like The Swamp, Death Valley, et al. How about "The Slaughterhouse"?
Good for slogans: "get butchered", "slice 'em up", etc. Could have posters of the opponents in a butcher's cuts diagram, a "chop" sign, maybe even a butcher mascot. PETA would love it. I should copyright this, having missed out on "Don't Tase me, Bro."
What's the name of VW's stadium, anyway? The Dungheap?

Mispelling intentional - on their part...Not mine ...I'm hoping the Bulls crush them, I'm getting sick of hearing how great WV is after watching them struggle against, and nearly collapse (had there been more time in the game ) a weak, Maryland team. I hope they hang 60 plus on the hillbillies.
